my heart sees
what is no longer here
buildings and changes
over time
my heart sees
people I knew
and gardens that grew
in different places
I write from my heart
and my heart sees
in new ways again

August afternoon
time I know well
gardens, months,
seasons, years

summer garden
some plants rest
some grow

now that I know
their name
I see them everywhere
hydrangeas

small spring garden
on a day in May
flowers begin to bloom

many roads
I no longer travel
more poems in the garden
than I could ever write

time with old friends
poems in a journal
from years ago
